Unable to control her urge for Chinese, Dahlia found herself standing in front to Jade Gardens. It had been too long since she had had a decent Chinese meal, so it only seemed fitting. The dark haired vampire smiled to herself as she gave her rumbling stomach a pat. This had better be both worth it AND good she thought, the heels of her boots clicking in time to her steps, as she strolled inside. Dahlia paused then to glance around. One thing she didn’t like doing was make a fool of herself, by not knowing where to go after walking inside somewhere.
Dahlia smiled at one of the waitresses as the she waved her towards a table. It wasn’t the seat of the house, but it was doable. She ordered a glass of water as she settled into the seat. Well…at least she’d be able to enjoy some yummy egg rolls, and a huge plate of General TSO’s Chicken. Her mouth watered at the thought.
After the waitresses returned with her tall glasses of icy water, Dahlia wasted no time in ordering her dinner. She got an odd look though, being that it was just her, one person and she had ordered egg rolls, the spicy General’s chicken, rice, and shrimp fried rice. Yeah, she was hungry. And besides… leftover Chinese wasn’t all too bad!
At two-thirty in the morning, Rhaine rubbed her eyes and tugged open the door to Jade Gardens. The tinkling sounds of the bells at the top of the door made her smirk, and she wondered if that really had any impact on whether or not they know someone was coming or going. Finding her way to a table, she smiled as she plopped her butt into a booth, knowing it was her normal booth.
"Hello Miss Rhaine." Rhaine looked up and found her usual server coming over, a glass of water and a hot teapot on a tray. She was here way too much, and at this point it was very obvious which made Rhaine smile a bit wider. "How is your Father? The family?"
"They're all doing very well. Dad is his usual, charming royal self." She shared a laugh with the server who put down all the items then nodded. "No food just yet though, I'm going to finish up some papers then eat. But keep the tea coming okay?" With an agreeing nod, Rhaine was left alone with the smells of incredible edibles and the sounds of asian music. Pouring herself a cup of hot tea, Rhaine squeezed some lemon into the liquid and then added a couple of packets of sugar. Using one hand to stir the mixture, her left hand tugged out some papers and she crossed her legs. It wasn't until she took a moment to pause that she looked up and noticed a woman she'd never seen before here so late. A lovely brunette, who seemed to have the same idea Rhaine did...a late night meal because this was quite possibly between lunch and dinner for her.
Rhaine got her pen out and crossed her legs, settling herself comfortably into the booth and began reading over one of the new contracts she needed to sign for her Father. Some new regulation at Safe Place regarding Vishous fixing the key code doors and also making cards for the magnetic locks. But her eyes kept glancing up at the female across the way. Something about her just...felt familiar. It didn't feel like Rhaine knew her but she felt they had something in common. Huh...
The young red head had come in while Dahlia awaited the arrival of her huge meal. What struck her as odd was the fact that she did not appear to intoxicated or anything. In fact, she seems to be getting ready to work...Who worked in a restaurant at this time?
Dahlia risked another glance over at the female as the waitress laid her food out on the table. "Thank you kindly," She said, a pleasant smile present on her face and turned her attention the assortment before her. Dahlia picked up the chopsticks and immediate started eating the shrimp fried rice. Except there was something about that redhead. Something that made her seem....then it hit her what exactly she had over heard the other female saying to the waitress. Dahlia nearly choked on her bite of food.
There was only one kind of Royalty that would be in Caldwell. And well the red-headed working away at 2;30...that made sense for a vampire. "Hello." Dahlia greeted the other female.
Rhaine's ears caught the sound of a cough, and immediately her head shot up to lock eyes with the brunette across the way. "Hello." Smiling, she nodded and picked up her tea cup taking a small sip before putting it back down. "You alright?" As she asked the question, Rhaine's eyes dropped down to the array of goodies that were laid out on the female's tabletop, and all of a sudden the princess' stomach growled loudly. Rhaine made a smirk and put her hand on her stomach. "Oh dear. Sorry!" She laughed and rubbed her stomach feeling her cheeks flush at the noise. "Your dinner looks way too appealing to pass up. I think I need to get my own."
Raising her hand, she waited for her waitress to come to the table before ordering herself some chicken fried rice, egg drop soup, and four chicken spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce for dipping. After the waitress walked away, Rhaine smiled at the brunette hoping she didn't feel she was being ignored. "I'm Rhaine."
Dahlia took a sip of her water to help ease the discomfort of her throat from almost choking. She gently set the glass back in it's spot on the table and answered the red head with a friendly smile, "Yes. Thank you." Dahlia could not help but notice the other female's eyes drop to her array of food spread out on the table. She knew what it was like to be hungry, and the food she had ordered would Dahlia would probably make last as long as possible.
"Doesn't it?" Dahlia replied with a light laugh. "I just could not resist the temptation earlier."
She nodded, "We must needs to keep our stomach's happy." Dahlia took a few more bites while she ordered her own food. Meeting another vampire, finally...maybe things were actually looking up.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." Rhaine glanced around just waiting to see if a date for Dahlia would come in, or at least a friend. When it became clear the girl was just as alone tonight in the restaurant as she was, she gathered her things and moved, hoping Dahlia didn't mind that she was just...pretty much plopping herself into the booth opposite the lady.
"Hope you don't mind, but I don't agree with Justin Matisse in 'Hope Floats'. The whole 'enjoying eating alone' and it being all 'courageous and daring' to me is just a lie." Laughing softly, Rhaine settled her papers beside her along with her purse, and grinned when her server found her. Once her food laid in place, her eyes widened at how much was on the table. "You'd think we had two men sitting here!" Picking up her chopsticks, Rhaine took a few bites and let the savory asian cuisine fill her senses, letting out a soft 'mmm' when she bit into just the right piece of meat or vegetable.
"Mind me asking, um, are you a...night...owl?" Rhaine intentionally emphasized the last two words, in hopes that if Dahlia was a vampire she would get the idea of what was being asked. Scribe Virgin forbid Rhaine tried to talk it up with a human who in the end thought Rhaine wanted her for dinner.
Dahlia did not really want to disturb the female if she was busy or awaiting the arrival of someone, so she returned to feeding her still protesting stomach. It was acting like she had not ate in days, and Dahlia knew it had not actually been that long. Even if her meals were getting longer in-between each other.
She was surprised when Rhaine moved everything over to join her. Dahlia could only stare at the red head for a few brief moments. "No, I do not mind in the slightest." But then she paused, cocked her head sideways and asked, " Who? Hope Floats?" Dahlia really and truly had no idea what the other female was talking about.
The table did quite look like it held an over abundance of food, especially for two females. Dahlia shrugged a shoulder and let out a light laugh, "I like to eat!"
"Verily," She responded. "I am. This is First Meal for me." Another term that only one of Dahlia's race would understand. She silently prayed a quick prayer to the Scribe Virgin. "You seem to quite like the night as well."
Blushing, Rhaine reminded herself that not all vampires spent their first 25 years with humans like she did and she reached nudging a piece of broccoli with her fork. "Sorry, it's a movie. Sandra Bullock plays a divorcee moving back home to Texas, well anyway." She laughed a bit at herself and took a bite of her dinner, chewing for a moment then swallowing. As she listened to how Dahlia answered, a few things became clear: This was a female of worth, and she had been properly raised by vampires.
"If you don't mind me asking, I really haven't seen you around Caldwell recently. What brings you here?" Rhaine hoped the question wasn't too confrontational, but Rhaine knew it was best to find out about as many vampires as possible. If Dahlia were ever in danger and Rhaine found out, she could tell the guys exactly where to help and how.
What the brunette left unsaid was that anything she had leftover, and she hoped there was enough, was gong to be her second meal. And more than likely, last meal also. But Dahlia hid all of that behind a friendly smile at the red headed female across the table. She was having trouble understanding. Is that why the humans always looked at her like she was crazy and asked if she was from another country? "Divorcee?" Dahlia asked, leaning in close to the edge of the table and whispering the question.
Dahlia quickly sat back, her back rigid against the back of the booth. She picked up her chopsticks and took a few bites before answering. "I have not been here long. Mostly have kept to myself."
Okay, so Rhaine was way over her head here. Dahlia had no idea what she meant by 'divorcee', so Rhaine nodded not bothering to elaborate on the movie. Her attempt at being funny fell flat, so instead she tried to just be nice and friendly. She picked up an egg roll and took a bite, listening to the crunch of the shell. For some reason, that was one of her favorite sounds in the world, the crunch of a spring roll falling apart. Well that and the sound of typing on a keyboard. She was a weirdo and she knew it.
"You seem really sweet, you could get along great here as long as you have protection." Finishing her bite, Rhaine looked at her stack of papers and wanted to roll her eyes. She didn't have long before she'd have to get back home, or her Father would send someone out to find her and that would be a big problem. Last thing she needed was one of the Brothers popping in scaring the daylights out of Dahlia. Then again, most civilians were interested in the brothers even if it was just for a glimpse. "Have you considered going to one of the clubs? There are many of us there just mixing with the humans." She intentionally kept her voice low so Dahlia wouldn't feel their business was just echoing out into the air.
They both ate in silence for a few moments, each seeming to relish the taste of their food. At least Dahlia knew she was, and Rhaine sure appeared to be doing the same. So she enjoyed her delicious meal until the red-headed female mentioned being safe with protection.
Dahlia's eyes widen in shock, her chopsticks fell into her plate of food unnoticed. "P-Protection?" That really had been the last thing she had expected the other female to say. They really needed protection? Dahlia had hoped to have found somewhere safe. She glanced away, her blue eyes darting around the restaurant searching for...something. "Clubs?" Dahlia's gazed returned to Rhaine, a hint of trepidation still hiding behind her blue gaze. She shook her head, "I assumed they were for the...humans only." Dahlia paused and gestured to her attire with one hand. "Not sure I'd fit in, either!" She finished the stated with a light, musical laugh.
The way Dahlia responded to Rhaine's question, made her very concerned. She had no idea she needed protection in Caldwell, which told the princess that Dahlia had no idea what had gone down around here. Picking up her phone, she sent a text to Rhage asking him to swing by here really quick.
"Nu vamp in Caldy, no defense. Pls come n advise. Jade Gardens."
She put her phone back down on the table watching the screen blink as the text was sent, and smiled at Dahlia. Every female had to be careful in the city if they didn't have someone or something to protect them. Maybe Rhage could give Dahlia a small piece to put in her purse or something just to be on the safe side. "I go to the clubs sometimes, there's a couple that are owned by those who would keep us safe while we're in there. Like Zerosum, or Iron Mask specifically. There's also some restaurants here that are safe and protected."
